Best Buddies New Mexico
The Walk for the 2010-11 School Year will be held on November 20th at the Albuquerque Balloon Park. We are including a new feature, The Festival of Friends. Each chapter will be able to set up a fundraising booth with carnival type games such as ring toss. The event will also have live music, great food and a lot of our Buddies having a fun time.
Kandee requested to chair because his sister was in Best Buddies at UTEP. As a Buddy, she bonded very closely with her peer buddy. But a couple of years ago, the chapter had to close due to a lack of funding.
The loss of Best Buddies was very painful to her. Kandee is committed to Best Buddies New Mexico. He wants to create an event that will continue to grow and thrive, so Best Buddies is self sustaining in New Mexico.
We've beefed up the prizes to the Chapter teams, and are encouraging parents to organize workplace teams to join the chapter teams chapters will be able to win up to $800 for their individual chapters this year! Individuals can win an I-POD for their fundraising efforts. But most of all, more participation means more friendships at out chapters.
But great events do not just happen. Please join Kandee on our Walk Committee. The committee will meet once a month and cover planning areas as sponsorship, team recruiting and coaching, logistical planning, decorating, publicity, and event safety. Walks not your thing- we also need office volunteers, gala committee volunteers and golfers.
