Best Buddies New Mexico
The chapter at Grants High School started in late Spring of 2009, after senior Krystal Spangler contacted the Best Buddies New Mexico Office about expansion.
Energized about the mission, Krystal presented the idea to Ms. MacDonald and Ms. Navarro who became the chapter advisors.
During the summer of 2009 Krystal attended the Best Buddies International Leadership conference and came back full of enthusiasm in the fall.
During the 2009-2010 school year Krystal worked hard recruiting Peer Buddies and Buddies to participate in the program. The chapter had a wonderful match party and worked closely with the Junior Class to organize a 50/50 raffle.
The chapter at GHS was extremely grateful of the support by the Junior Class who donated $200 to the chapter to assist with chapter dues.
Clarisa Gonzalez O’Keefe has been selected to serve as the 2010 Chapter President and is extremely excited to work with Ms. MacDonald and Ms. Navarro. She has an impressive background in music and plans sharing her passion with the Buddies at Grant High School.
Her innovative attitude is just what the chapter needs to ‘start fresh’ next year. Clarisa plans on working closely with the Buddies to organize activities that are mission focused and fun for everyone.
The Grants High school chapter is planning on starting recruitment for Peer Buddies and the remaining officer positions in the fall. If you are a student at Grants High school and would like to participate in the chapter please sign up at www.bestbuddiesonline.org.
